Keeping track of NDIS reform dates has become a job in itself. Support determinations, budget resets, registration cut-offs, commissioned services arriving years apart — here is every provider-relevant date currently on the books, in one timeline, cross-checked against Team DSC's reform tracker and NDIA publications.
October 2026: the big bang
1 October — support budget resets begin. Social and community participation budgets reset (phased over 12 months as plans renew), with a smaller reset to daily living skills budgets. If your participants rely on these categories, expect questions now — and expect reassessment conversations to get harder. 1 October — SIL and platform registration cut-off. Mandatory registration for Supported Independent Living and NDIS digital platform providers commenced 1 July; any provider in scope who had not lodged an application by 1 October must stop delivering those supports.
1 October — support determinations apply. New and reassessed plans fall under support determinations, with a late-added review pathway for high-needs participants requiring continuous 24/7 support.
November – December 2026
1 November — pricing review consultation closes. The 2027–28 Annual Pricing Review via NDIS Engage is the window to argue about price limits. Use it or live with the outcome. 1 December — 90-day claiming starts. Participants and plan managers must claim within 90 days of service delivery. Tighten invoicing rhythm now; late claims will simply fail.
2027: renewals, panels and criteria
1 February 2027 — plan renewals under new criteria. Tougher reasonable-and-necessary tests and sustainability principles kick in; unregistered support coordination providers face a 10% price cut from 1 January 2027. 1 October 2027 — plan manager panel. Participants must choose from a government-approved panel, with six months to transition off non-panel managers. Plan managers should be planning for this now, not in September 2027.
2028 and beyond
1 July 2028 — commissioned support coordination begins. The open market for support coordination is slated to end, replaced by government-commissioned services. With roughly 11,000 active support coordination providers nationally, this is the single biggest structural change on the horizon.
December 2030 — mandatory registration deadline for all in-scope providers.
What providers should do this month
Three things: map which of your revenue lines sit in reset categories; check your registration scope against the high-risk list; and if you deliver support coordination, start scenario-planning for a commissioned world. The dates above will move — they always do — but the direction is one-way. Timeline cross-checked against Team DSC's NDIS reform tracker and NDIA/Department of Health publications, October 2026.
